I put this site together to honour my mother as an artist and also to acknowledge my grandfather, Swedish painter Arvid Skoggard. 

 

I'm including a portfolio of life drawings my mother did at Central Technical School in Toronto when, as a returning Royal Canadian Air Force veteran she studied fine and commercial art. She shows herself to have a remarkable eye and a fluent and graceful feel for the medium of charcoal on paper.

 

Another gallery presents her work in portraiture. Watercolor portraits emphasise all the difficulties of the medium and put a lot of pressure on the artist to get the likeness alla prima. There is no chance at revision. Jean pulls it off time and again.

 

The gallery called "My grandfather, my mother and me" showcases how the three of us painted the same scenery and sometimes the same scene at our cottage in Go Home Bay.
